An explosion has been reported at the Maiduguri market near the Power Holding Company (NEPA) building. According to reports, the explosion was heard at about 8:20 a.m. Many casualties may be recorded as the area is usually a crowded commercial centre.
An officer of the State Security Service confirmed the explosion to PREMIUM TIMES minutes after it occurred. Emergency officials are said to be on their way to the explosion scene.
