A suspected c*****e dealer, Kingsley Agu, who was recently arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has told operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency that he took to crime because he needed money to fund his father’s burial.
30-year-old Agu was arrested with two others – Joseph Ezenna and Israel Okoye – for smuggling c*****e valued at N131m from Brazil.

Manchester United football club has on Wednesday announced a multi-year sponsorship with fruit juice brand Chi to become the club’s official soft drinks partner in Nigeria.
The deal will allow Chi to use the legendary Manchester United crest and club imagery on a range of products throughout Nigeria.
Reportedly, the deal is worth between 1-2 million pounds a year, as they continue to boost their income signing lucrative deals with the aid of their global appeal.
Founded over 30 years ago, Chi’s brands include Chivita 100%, Chivita Active, Chi Exotic, Chi Happy Hour and Chi Ice Tea.
Manchester United’s group managing director Richard Arnold said: “We are delighted to welcome Chi Limited as an official partner of Manchester United.
With over 30 years of experience, Chi has a commitment to the health and well-being of the local population by producing high quality, market leading products.”
According to him, Man U has close to 35m followers in Nigeria. “Who are some of the most passionate in our global fanbase, something that we fondly remember after playing in Abuja in 2008,” he added.
An event was held at the prestigious Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester UK and leading players of the club like Angel Di Maria, Robin Van Persie, Valencia and Anders Lindegaard attended the ceremony.
“We are confident that the partnership will further deepen consumer loyalty as well as ensure that millions of passionate soccer fans across Nigeria continue to refresh and rejuvenate themselves with Chivita100% Juice and Chi’s other beverage offerings, as they relish every moment of the beautiful game,” Chi’s head of marketing Probal Bhattacharya said.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, October 30, 2014 arraigned an undergraduate of the University of Benin, Kenneth Rukewe Ebule before Justice E. F Ikponmwen of an Edo State High Court, sitting in Benin- City on a 6- count charge bordering on forgery, obtaining money by false pretence and possession of fraudulent documents.
The accused person allegedly duped Sabine Albert, a German, of the sum of $12, 088, 75 through fraudulent claims.
Rukewe, 30, a final year student of Computer and Statistics at the University of Benin, was arrested by officials of a new generation bank on May 28, 2014 in Benin City and handed over to the EFCC for further investigation.
Troubles started for him when Albert alleged that within two months after he had internet contact with him, Rukewe fraudulently obtained the sum of $12,088,75 (Twelve Thousand Eighty Eight Dollars and Seventy Five Cents) from him.
Rukewe allegedly posed to Albert as an English businessman on transit in Nigeria.
He gave his name as Bob Albert and told his victim that he had a contract with a Nigerian company worth €1.200, 000.00 and that he needed a loan to facilitate a transaction with the company.
He promised to pay back the loan and even doubled it because he was sure of pulling through the transactions.
He also told Albert that he had complications and suffered a robbery attack.
Rukewe also falsely told Albert that, a levy of of N1,975,861 (One Million, Nine Hundred and Seventy Five Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty One Naira only) was imposed on him by the Federal Inland Revenue Service for the release of his International Passport, and a cheque worth 1, 200,000 Euros.
He also pleaded for a flight ticket to London.
Based on all these, Albert offered to loan him the money by sending it through Western Union, only to discover that he had been scammed.
Investigation also revealed that the suspect had defrauded other German nationals to the tune of $110,975.00USD (One Hundred and Ten thousand, Nine Hundred and Seventy Five United States Dollars) between May 2013 and January 2014.
When the charges were read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
One of the charges read in part:
“Ebule Kenneth Rukewe (a.k.a. Bob Albert), on or about the 17th day of July, 2013 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with Intent to defraud, obtained the sum of $12,088,75 (Twelve Thousand Eighty Eight Dollars and Seventy Five Cents) from Sabine Albert (a German National), under the false pretence that the money represented part payment of N1,975,861 (One Million Nine Hundred and Seventy Kobo) levy imposed one Bobby Albert (a British citizen) by Federal Inland Revenue Service for the release of the International Passport, Cheque worth 1,200,000 Euros and flight ticket to London of the said Bobby Albert, which representation you knew to be false”.
In view of the plea of the defendant, prosecution counsel, Kayode Oni asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody.
The defence counsel, Maureen Morka informed the court of her application for bail dated September 9, 2014 and prayed the court to grant the defendant bail.
Justice Ikponmwen granted the defendant bail in the sum of One Million Naira and two sureties in like sum.
The sureties must be resident in Benin City and must be gainfully employed in Edo State. The defendant must also produce his student identity card.
Justice Ikponmwen subsequently adjourned the case to November 21, 2014 for hearing and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail.

The Deputy Governor accused Amosun of starving him of funds and urged the governor to conduct his affairs with the fear of God.
It seems all is not well in Ogun State as the Deputy Governor, Segun Adesegun has severely criticized Governor Ibikunle Amosun via a 10-paragraph letter.
Adesegun accused Amosun of starving him of funds and urged the governor to conduct his affairs with the fear of God.
The letter dated October 24, 2014 was obtained by Punch and contains a list of injustices that Adesegun alleges have been done against him.
Read Letter Below:-
“My governor, as I am writing to you, the feeding and out-of-pocket allowance of the deputy governor for the months of September and October 2014, as well as the monthly sundry expenses for the months of September and October 2014 are yet to be paid.”
“Last year, in my letter to your good self on the affairs of the state, I concluded by reminding you that at a meeting held in February, 2011 at Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye’s house, while you were the governorship candidate of the ACN, you called me aside and promised me that I will enjoy my tenure as your deputy but since then I have not felt the benefit.”
“I write to say that rather than improving, the situation is worse.’’.
“I informed you personally (and severally) during the State Executive Council meetings, requesting necessary action from the appropriate quarters. Up till now, I am still living in darkness.”
“Of course, your Excellency knows that till date, I remain the deputy governor in Nigeria without a portfolio, in spite of entreaties made to you from various quarters.
Worse, several attempts made by me for the office of the deputy governor were rebuffed by your good self. And I keep wondering why this is so.”
“Another very relevant issue is my official car. The engine knocked in December last year.
Your Excellency will recollect that you were formerly using the car and that it was when you rejected it that it was transferred to me. So, when it had problems, I thought you will appreciate and understand my plight, rather you ignored me.”
“I had cause to remind you many times, but nothing was done. I resorted to using my personal car as back-up even when I was aware that you were giving vehicles, including Custom-made bulletproof vehicles to others. It was when a Good Samaritan bought a Tundra Truck for me that you deemed it fit to send a Toyota Prado XL V4 engine to me in late August.”
“My convoy of old vehicles break down intermittently when travelling. On numerous occasions, we have had cause to stop while on a journey to effect repairs on vehicles . Obviously, these vehicles are to be changed every two years under best practices, even when newly bought. These vehicles in my convoy were used by the last administration and transferred to me.”
“Your Excellency may also note that the fund you approved for my vacation with some members of my immediate family and two aides in August 2014 is yet to be paid. Please recall that I discussed the vacation with your good self in May, and you graciously conceded that I should forward a memorandum in June, only for it to be approved in August.”
“Despite your approval, the fund was not released. I made several spirited efforts to no avail. It got to a stage that I was being bounced between you and the Commissioner for Finance. I eventually proceeded on the leave without collecting a dime.”
“I am therefore constrained to ask if the non-payment of these allowances is as a result of the state government not being able to meet her financial commitments. Or is the state financially bankrupt that it cannot meet its responsibilities.”
“Your Excellency, while writing this letter, my thoughts race to my university days in Ile-Ife, Osun State where I joined a group of bikers travelling around the country out of youthful exuberance.”
“During this period, one of my pastimes was reading inscriptions on cars and buses to amuse myself. In 1978, I witnessed a fatal accident near a big tree at Alakia Junction in Ibadan on the way to Ile-Ife involving a white Peugeot 504 station wagon.”
Nearly everybody in the car died; shockingly there were several amulets hung over the car that had the word “I shall not return” boldly inscribed on both sides. Unfortunately, it did not return. I therefore conclude that we all must fear God.”
There have been rumours of discord between Amosun and his Adesegun after it was alleged that the latter had joined another party and absented himself from his duties which included accompanying the governor on official visits.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday, had his first day in class as a Masters/Ph.d student of the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN.
The former president is studying for a Masters and Doctorate degree in Christian Theology.
The class which took place in Ota, Ogun State, was held with his internal supervisor, Philip Tachin, a lecturer in Systematic Theology and a pastor.
Mr. Obasanjo said he was optimistic that additional knowledge in Theology will help him understand how to use religion in the alleviation of problems that affect people at the grass roots generally but particularly in Africa.
After receiving an outline for the course, he was given his first assignment to review a number of literatures on the subject and to present a research paper for review.
Mr. Obasanjo obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in 2009.
The Masters degree will precede the Doctorate degree.
Last month, Mr. Obasanjo revealed that he was returning to school to achieve his aspirations in life.
“I’m going back to school because I have to have something to aspire to in every endeavour of life,” Mr. Obasanjo had said.
“I always aspire to something new in my farm. I do that in my international activities.
I do it in my writing. I do it in the improvement of my academic work which helps to sharpen my brain and strengthen my faith.”
The National Open University was initially established in 1983 but was suspended by the then military government in 1984.
Mr. Obasanjo resuscitated it in 2001.
In November 2006, a few months to the end of his eight-year tenure, the then president enrolled for a post graduate diploma in Christian Theology at the university.
He graduated in January 2009.
Born on March 5, 1937, Mr. Obasanjo attended Abeokuta Baptist High School; Mons Officers’ Cadet School, Aldershot, England; Royal College of Military Engineering, Chatham, England and School of Survey, Newbury, England.
He also attended the British Royal Engineers’ Young Officers School, Shrivenham, England; Indian Defence Staff College; Indian Army School of Engineering and Royal College of Defence Studies, London.
He enlisted into the Nigerian Army in 1958.
He was Nigeria’s Head of State between 1976 and 1979 when he voluntarily handed over to a civilian administration led by Shehu Shagari.
In 1999, he was elected president. His tenure expired in 2007.

As far as I am concerned, Lagos, Nigeria, is the worst place on planet Earth. I’ve never experienced so much corruption in my life. It was just a horrific experience getting into the country. Crossing in from Benin, we got shaken down by the border guards. In addition to the multiple police shakedowns, the multiple ATM issues were enough for me; three times in two days, the machines dispensed the wrong amount of money. It was oppressive and hot. I couldn’t tell you one good thing about that place.”

28yr old Serbian model and reality star Soraja Vucelic (pictured) claimed in a recent interview with a Serbian newspaper that 22 year old Barcelona and Brazilian footballer Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, sent a private jet to pick her up to visit him in Barcelona after the pair met in Ibiza…and she shared a pic of herself in the jet in Neymar’s jersey to prove she was not lying.
Soraja told Kurir newspaper that she met Neymar in Ibiza in July and they exchanged contact and frequently chatted via Skype.
One day he told her he wanted to see her and sent a private plane to pick her and her friend up.
Soraja was in Barcelona for many days with Neymar.
This happened this October but Soraja refused to say when exactly and what happened between them.

Some Nigerian soldiers, who double as moles for Boko Haram, giving the sect vital information about the military’s strategies and tactics, have been arrested, new reports confirm.
According to AllAfrica.com, the nation’s military has arrested those soldiers it suspected were working as double agents for Boko Haram.
“It was gathered that the alleged moles among the soldiers leaked the information on the deployment of soldiers from Maimalari Barracks in April this year to the terrorists, which led to an ambush and killing of so many soldiers of the 101 Battalion”
Military commanders are putting the pieces together and revisiting all the incidents in which Boko Haram succeeded because it might have had intelligence about secret operations.
And according to a site, who spoke to the site;
“The situation became so bad that there was mutual suspicion among fellow commanders, the brigade headquarters and even the division headquarters. But at last, the moles were found out to be some of the orderlies and aides of commanders”, the source said.
“What they do is that after operational briefings and troops take off, these moles immediately pass on the information through calls”
While the Nigerian military is still conducting investigations to flush out more spies, the ones already caught will be charged with criminal conspiracy and possibly other crimes.
Too bad – No wonder the Boko Haram thing has grown stronger or what do you think???

A son of Nigeria’s late military ruler Sani Abacha picked the nomination form and expression of interest form to participate in 2015 governorship race in Kano State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to report by BusinessDay, Mohammed Abacha completed formalities on October 29, 2014, Wednesday. He also gave comments to journalists, saying that he remains focused on the upcoming campaign and that the PDP would be victorious.
“We will win Kano State. We are hopeful that we will win in Kano State,” Mohammed Abacha declared.
It would be recalled that the son of late general was in June 2014 discharged by the High Court sitting in Abuja over alleged receipt of stolen property worth N100.38bn.

Reports circulating in the media allege that former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi was asked to resume his duties for the AFCON qualifiers.
Eagles’ ex Big Boss, whose contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expired in summer, after the team’s quit from the World Cup tournament, then managed the team for 4 qualifying matches of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on the interim basis.
However a day after the the Super Eagles defeated Sudan 3-1 in a must-win match for Nigeria, Keshi was relieved from his job by the NFF led by its new president Amaju Pinnick. The football body appointed former coach Shaibu Amodu in an interim capacity.
Today morning strong indications appeared that Keshi might return for at least 2 November games.
Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye took to his Twitter account Thursday morning to deliver short breaking news:

Goal.com confirms with reference to its sources that Keshi was asked to return under the order of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Supersport.com provided the same information adding that Jonathan held an emergency meeting with Pinnick last night strongly recommending him to reinstate Keshi as Super Eagles head coach.
The media’s source said:
“I can confirm to you that Stephen Keshi will return as the head coach of the Super Eagles because of the presidential intervention. The president (Jonathan) met with all football stakeholders last night and he told them that Keshi must return as the Super Eagles coach with immediate effect.”
Regarding Amodu who was meant to substitute Keshi, the source said he would “step down”.
The NFF is yet to make an official statement on the matter.
The Super Eagles must win both November encounters, with Congo and South Africa to have a chance of qualifying for the tournament.

Chinedu Ubachukwu has emerged winner of the 11th edition of Gulder Ultimate Search.
Chinedu beat the two other finalists Cosy Joe & Afolabi Emmanuel to the ultimate prize by being the only person to complete the final task of retrieving the General’s War Helmet. This victory came after the 24-year-old graduate of Petroleum & Gas at University of Port Harcourt successfully navigated his way through the forest and managed to row his canoe across the heavy currents of Aguleri River.
The other two warriors failed in their bids to get to the mysterious destination across the waters.
With this achievement, the native of Anambra State will exchange the treasure for a whopping N10million and a brand new SUV.
As soon as Chinedu located & retrieved the General’s War Helmet, anchorman Chidi Mokeme inducted him into the exclusive Order of Heroes as the 11th “Ultimate Man”.
The other finalists will get cash prizes for the positions they finished in.
On the other hand, Otto Canon has won the Viewers’ Choice award, thus becoming the proud owner of a brand new SUV in addition to the prize money he gets for being the 3rd runner up.

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state says he goes to the beer parlour every Friday to meet with the commoners in his state. Fayose said this today in Abuja while explaining to newsmen the concept of the ‘stomach infrastructure’ he initiated in his state, saying it doesn’t only mean sharing of food and money to the people..
“I go to beer parlour on Friday to stay with the common men there. Governance is not church; it is about diverse characters and you must relate with them as such. Christmas is coming. Why do people go out of their ways to be shopping or doing other things if it is not just to make people merry? So, I’m grooming chicken, buying rice, yams, plantain, and the rest of them. I am sure if I give it to families during the festive period, they will be happy. So, stomach infrastructure is a way of life.” he said

Joy Williams, 23, from Thamesmead, was described as a ‘caring and funny’ girl who was ‘loved by everybody.
She died on October 23 after travelling to Bangkok to have £2,000 buttock augmentation surgery.
Speaking yesterday from his home in Lagos, Nigeria, Miss Williams’s older brother Anietie, 28, said he had been looking forward to her visiting him in Nigeria this Christmas.He said: ‘We don’t really know what went wrong, we only know what is in reports in the media.
‘She was a beautiful girl, loved by everybody. We will miss her so much.’
He added that the family were still making preparations to bring Miss Williams’s body home and that his brother was planning to fly to Thailand and return to London with it.
Miss Williams, who was born in Lagos, settled in Thamesmead with her mother Christie in 2007 and had been to Thailand twice before choosing to visit for surgery.
She initially visited the SP clinic, which she found on the internet, on October 14 to have the operation which she hoped would give her a bigger, fuller bottom. A few days later her wounds became infected and she returned to have corrective surgery to remove the silicon implants.
The doctor who carried out the procedure, Sompob Sansiri, 51, was later arrested and accused of negligence after it was found that he had been carrying out night-time surgery without a licence.

EME boss, Banky W has revealed he is sad that he is not on M.I’s 3rd album, The Chairman released today, as a featured artiste.
The R&B star and label executive made this known today via Instagram while urging fans to go out and buy copies of the album.
Banky W, while thanking MI for inspiring him and describing the new album as a classic, wrote: ‘Bigups to my favourite rapper on the continent, @mi_abaga on the release of his album. Thank u for continuing to inspire me. Sad that I didn’t get to be on the album, but proud of U, inspired by ur work and wishing u nothing but the best always. Yall make sure u cop this classic.
’ The Chairman album, which is M.I’s third full-length studio album, features artiste like Wizkid, Seyi Shay, Ice Prince, Olamide Reminisce, Patoranking, Runtown, Sarkodie, 2face, Nosa, Koker, Sound Sultan, Emmy Ace and Bennie Man.
The two stars are not exactly new to collaborating on projects as they have been on two tracks before at different times in their career.
In a song titled ‘Feeling It’ off Banky W’s The W Experience album, the ‘Lagos Party’ star featured the rapper who is fond of describing himself as the ‘short, black boy’ while they also hooked up to deliver ‘Still together,’ an ode to Nigeria for the country’s 50th independence anniversary in 2010..
