The novelty match aimed at promoting human rights of Nigerians ended in a 4-0 win in favour of the experienced Eagles stars.
The Super Eagles stars who played at the novelty match were Taribo West, Okocha, Mutiu Adepoju, Stephen Keshi, Amokachi, Alloy Agu, Peter Rufai, Emmanuel Amunike and Austin Eguavoen.
Nollywood celebrities and other entertainers who played were Comedians AY & Okey Bakassi, Emeka Enyiocha, Fred Amata, Moses Inwang, MI Abaga and many others.

There have been different views on the recently passed smoking law since it was signed by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola on 17th of February 2014.
We have now obtained a copy of the law and are surprised to read that contrary to what some people think, the law only becomes effective on the 17th of August 2014, which is six months after the Governor signed.
This means that even the police that have been harassing smokers are not aware of this. Incredibly, the law also allows for smoking in open places such as on the streets, roads and highways as wells as in 10% of hotels, bars, night clubs and tertiary institutions. It even goes further to state that the law will be enforced by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), meanwhile all manner of people have been harassing smokers, even LATSMA and Boys Scout.. Can our government ensure that the public are well informed about laws they pass to prevent undue harassment of its citizens.

The 37 PDP House of Representatives members who defected to APC in December 2013 have been ordered to vacate their seats and the House.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja gave the order today while delivering judgment in a suit filed against the defected lawmakers by the PDP. The judge said the lawmakers no longer had any business, morally and legally in the Assembly and so should resign.
“Having perused the arguments of counsel and the constitutional provisions, it is clear and unambiguous that the defendants were sponsored by the PDP and won the election on its platform. It is also the court’s opinion that their tenure has not expired and there is no division in the PDP.
“The defendants are, therefore, not competent to vote or contribute to any proceedings in the House of Representatives. An order of perpetual injunction is, hereby, ordered, restraining them from altering or attempting to change the leadership of the House of Reps,” Justice Ademola said.
In January 2014, PDP instituted a suit against the defected lawmakers who attempted to cause an alteration in the leadership of the House of Representative.

Actors, Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogun yesterday, March 30, 2014, beat their fellow actors to win the Best Actor and Actress awards of the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA) held at the Civic Centre, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The duo alongside Ojopagogo, Kelvin Ikeduba, Niji Akanni and 11 others shone as they carted away the awards while the likes of Late Kola Ogunmola, Late Duro Ladipo, Prof Akinwunmi Isola, Adebayo Faleti and Lanre Hassan (Iya Awero) were all given honorary awards.
Pageantry was added to the four hour event as celebrities from different walks of life, showed up clad in their traditional outfits as stated on the invitation. Present were Dayo Adeneye, Yinka Ayefele, Yemi Solade, Peju Ogunmola, Saidi Balogun, Mercy Aigbe, Iyabo Ojo and others.

Chocolate City hip hop artiste Panchak Zamani, better known as Ice Prince, has signed a deal with the biggest music corporation in the world, Universal Music Group.
The ‘Fire of Zamani’ rapper, who said the deal has been sealed and signed but is yet to be announced officially, didn’t give full details of the deal.
Speaking with the Pulse in a recent interview, the rapper said, ‘I recently signed with Universal Music Group. the official announcement hasn’t been made yet.They will start first with my ‘I Swear’ track, which will be licensed in the UK, after which other tracks will follow.’
The deal will have Ice Prince expanding his fan base and reaching his audience globally through international channels.Last November, the rapper signed an endorsement deal with telecommunication company, Etisalat, reportedly worth 20 million naira.

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor recently bared his mind concerning the controversies surrounding churches and their flamboyant pastors.
When asked to explain why churches milk the poor, the CAN president and Senior pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, said “it is cheap to criticise; even to criticise what you don’t understand.
Let me put it this way, in every good people, you would always find some bad people. The church is the greatest institution that has made the country today. If you look back, you would find out that the church brought education to Nigeria.”
Speaking further to Punch, he said “The church brought hospital to Nigeria. I think the church should be given credit for that. People don’t understand what they say about the church milking the poor. Can a poor man have money to pay tithe? A man who has no job, can he pay tithe? No, he won’t be able to pay. So how do you milk a man who has no milk? In a church, you have both the poor and the rich. It is generally not the poor that finance the church.
It is those with the means. A man, for example, who earns N10,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is N1,000. A man who earns N500,000, how much is his tithe? His tithe is 10 per cent which is N50,000. How much would you milk from a man who pays a tithe of N1000?
“We won’t say things like this usually because the church is a level-playing ground. Whether you are poor or you are rich, God sees everybody as equal. It is because of a question like this that sometimes, we have to take time to analyze things. I even hear people say that the poor give money to start schools, but their children cannot go to the schools.
How will they give this money when they are poor? The truth is that, the people who actually give this money are those who have the means to do so. Those people make it possible for churches to start schools. Now again, why do churches charge high fees in school? You didn’t ask me that, but I’m just throwing that in free. People must understand that there is a standard.
“The church wants to maintain the standard. In those days, some people will say that when missionaries started school, it was free. Don’t forget that those missionaries were being financed from different places. Who is financing us today? We are financing ourselves. If I got free financing, why won’t we make education free? You must also understand that at the time, the cost of living was not the way it is today.
The educational system of Nigeria is in serious trouble, so we need to up the standards. And to do that, you should be able to hire the best hands. If you hire the best, how do you pay them? Where do you get the money to pay them? How do you put the right infrastructure in place? How do you do many of the things that need to be done? How do you run the generators?”
On why there are so many poor people in churches yet rich pastors, Oritsejafor who recently completed an ultra modern 40,000 capacity church auditorium in Warri, Delta State, explained, “Remember that the pastors are pasturing both the poor and the rich. They are all in the same assembly. Both the poor and the rich, those who have the means in the church take time to be kind to their pastors. That is something most people don’t realize.
They give their pastors money, food and different things. For example, a member of the church goes to his pastor and says, ‘I feel led to give you a car. Take this car.’ Now the pastor has a car. Did he steal it? As I sit here talking to you now, I can tell you that I am training almost 100 people in institutions of higher learning. Nobody is going to broadcast that. On every 26th of December, I organise what I call poverty alleviation. I have been doing it now for about eight years.”
Defending his aircraft and rift with Mallam Nasir el-Rufai “I am glad that there are people who challenged him. I would only be dignifying him if a person at my level starts exchanging words with a small person like el-Rufai. He is too small. I will not dignify him with a response. People responded.
They told him that since he knew who gave the gift, he should provide the proof, which he hasn’t done till today. Obviously, he didn’t have any proof. That is the problem with Nigeria. We continue to celebrate people like el-Rufai. He is too small for me. I won’t waste my time on him”.

Danny young was said to have missed his performance as the coppers where waiting to see him at the NYSC camp shagamu last night due to an accident that occurred on the Lagos Ibadan express way. The accident was due to the collision of his vehicle with another car resulted in fire.
Danny and his crew managed to escape through the windows and doors as other vehicle owners stopped by, bringing out fire extinguisher from various angles and assisted in putting out the fire.
We can’t actually say the present condition of Danny young or his team members that were present in the car but news reaching us says they are being hospitalized in an undisclosed private hospital in Lagos.

A 300 level Economics student of the Lagos State University (LASU) identified as Miss Rita Onwuli, has been murdered by unknown persons in Lagos.
Her lifeless body was found near a church at the Odo Olowu Street, Ijeshatedo, on the Apapa – Oshodi Expressway, Lagos.

According to report, Rita had left home on Tuesday and for three days, she was nowhere to be found. Her friends, colleagues and family members searched for her to no avail and on Thursday, they got the shock of their life as they were called to come and see dead body.
Rita’s bag which had some of her personal belongings and her phone was found by her side and that’s how they were able to reach out to some people who disclosed her identity, and promised to come to the scene immediately.
A team of policemen from the Ijeshatedo Police Station which had responded to the call by members of the Neighbourhood Watch, had a hectic time dispersing passers-by from taking snap shots of the body and they
also declined comment about the incident.
A member of the Neighbourhood Watch, Mr Badmus Azeez Adeniyi, who spoke on the incident said, ” There is no clue yet on what could have happened to the lady. But it is like a case of m****r that took place somewhere.
Apparently, the perpetrators had waited for the cover of the dark to drop her corpse here. Nobody can say exactly when they did this but it surely cannot be anything around 10pm and 11pm last night because we still passed through this area when we were on surveillance watch last night.”
When contacted, the LASU Public Relations Officer, Mr Sutton Kayode, said he was going to check if Onwuli was a student of the institution.

The singer turned born-again prophet received a lot of backlash over his initial prophesy which gave a warning of doom ahead for singers, Wizkid and Davido. Even the seat of power, Aso rock could not escape his fiery prophecy.
In a recent interview with Punch Newspapers, he shed more light the vision he says God revealed to him.
He said:
“I have always been in the public eye. My marriage caused a scenario in this country. I don’t know what people saw in me. Anybody who feels I am seeking for attention is making a serious mistake; I am too busy for that. I am in Abuja at the moment; I am heading to Lagos and Port Harcourt before the end of the week. I am busy. I am just doing the work of my father.
It was my God who instructed me to give the prophecy and I have done that. I am not wishing anybody anything bad. All they have to do is to pray. I have received calls from Aso Rock. I got prophesies for Wizkid, Davido and Aso Rock and I said what God asked me to say. I told them to pray. God doesn’t give you prophecy for you to be scared but for you to be aware and pray about it.
Asked why he didn’t call Wizkid and Davido privately to intimate them of the prophecy before making it public, Soul E answered:
They are not my friends and I don’t talk to them. In fact, I have never seen them before and I am not sure they know me. I am not saying they are my enemies.
I had to go on Facebook and Instagram to pass my messages. I have said what I want to say and it is fine by me. If they want to take it, fine and if they don’t want to, that is not my problem. I am not a pastor, I am a prophet. A prophet announces his prophecies.
When asked if he was shown other things, Soul E answered in the affirmative revealing that two governors will die before the end of 2015.
He told me two northern governors will go, they will die before the end of 2015. This is what God showed me. Prophets come to tell you what God is saying about a situation. Pastors will tell you ‘you are blessed,’ Prophets will tell you to be careful or tell you not to marry the particular person you wanted to marry because of the vision they had seen.

According to a report by AFP, a poll in Brazil says a woman who shows off her body deserves to be r***d. We are talking about Brazil, the land of samba, voluptuous carnival dancers and mini bikinis.
Of the 3,810 respondents of both sexes who responded to the government’s Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA) survey released last week, about 2,480 – 65% – justified raping women who wear “clothing that shows off the body.”
And 58.5% of respondents also agreed that “if women knew how to behave, there would be fewer rapes.”
This poll has triggered outrage in the country, especially when it was revealed that most of the poll’s respondents – 66.5% – were women. So wait, it is okay to walk near-n***d in a carnival, but not in real life? And women are the ones who believe this? There’s absolutlely no excuse for r**e!

Telecommunications company, Etisalat Nigeria Friday sacked over two thousand permanent staffs across the country. The sacked workers were paid off our source say.
The Telecom operator seeks to hire adhoc staff to run the operations of the company as the company is said broke and can no longer retain the permanent work force.
Most of those sacked have expressed surprise and disappointment over the development which has thrown them into the already saturated unemployment market.
“We were asked to leave and our cheques handed to us yesterday, it is unfortunate that I am again back to the Job market” a source who does not want to be mentioned revealed.
“They want to recruit contract staff/new agents and they can no longer run the cost of paying those of us that are permanent staff, they claim.”
Another source went on to say the management of the company is insisting on hiring contract staff to replace those sacked but “it is unfortunate they had to send us home the way they did”
She continued, “Do we even have labour laws in this country? How can you wake over night and ask people to go without months of notice, at least for us to be prepared for the worst”.
Some of the reasons by the management for the sack is that the company can no longer manage the wage bill and the company is going through financial crisis and can’t afford to keep permanent staff, hence the need for the sack.
In Lagos alone, over 1,200 were sacked while more than 800 were asked to go home in states like kano.
The company has also terminated their graduate trainee program for all fresh graduates. The Company sent out emails that the program has ended without prior notice.
Some members of the graduate trainee had spent years with the company only to receive mails about their sack at the close of business.
Attempt to speak to the management of Etisalat to confirm or deny the allegations has been unsuccessful so far as at the time of filing this report, we’ve sent mails and no response.

Chelsea Handler will quit her US talk show when her contract expires.
The 39-year-old star has hosted ‘Chelsea Lately ‘ for the past eight years, where she has an average viewership of 572,000 a night, but intends to leave the programme in nine months’ time and has a number of offers for work coming in from elsewhere.
The host’s manager Irving Azoff told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘Chelsea intends to leave when her contract expires. She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas.’
Chelsea – who is believed to make around $9 million a year from the show – has previously voiced her concerns about the E! network and described it as ‘a sad, sad place to live.’
Before adding: ‘They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.’
A source at one company on the list to meet with her believes those remarks may affect her chance of getting work in the future.
The source said: ‘When you see talent go after a network like that, you think one day it could be me.’
E! have refused to comment on the blonde beauty’s future.

Lady Gaga‘s dancers gave her a sex toy for her birthday.
The singer celebrated turning 28 backstage after her Roseland Ballroom show in New York City on Friday, March 28, 2014 and her dancers sang her ‘Happy Birthday‘ before presenting her with gifts.
According to The New York Post newspaper, presents included a pink sex toy, a riding crop and a sexy lingerie set with heart cut-outs in intimate areas.
Her friend Lady Starlight, who opened the gig, gave her a cake in the shape of a giant shoe that said ‘G.U.Y.‘ – which is the name of her newest single.
Gaga was also joined by artist Jeff Koons and James Franco, who posted an image of the two of them on Instagram which he captioned ‘HAPPY BDAY, GaGA!!!!‘.
Following the show the blonde beauty spent time with boyfriend Taylor Kinney.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘Another amazing birthday moment. I love surprises!’, and attached an affectionate black and white image of the pair of them where he is leaning in to kiss her while she poses for the shot.
A source also overheard Starlight saying Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – would likely marry Kinney.
Gaga clearly had a fabulous birthday and thanked her fans for their wishes.
She tweeted: ‘Thank you so much for all my beautiful birthday wishes. I feel like luckiest girl in the world this birthday‘.

Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Ikorodu Area Command, Lagos, has arrested a Baale’s son for allegedly stealing a motorcycle belonging to an indigene of Saki, Oyo State, who resides in Bayeku area of Ikorodu.
VGN Acting Area Commander, Olaiya Johnson made the arrest, weekend, but later handed the suspect to the police in Igbogbo Division.
According to eyewitnesses account, the suspect, who was simply identified as Lawal, was said to have scaled the fence of the house where the motorcycles were kept.
A resident of the building raised the alarm which attracted the owner and police were contacted. When the suspect was arrested, he was identified as the Baale’s son.

Inspired by the swelling audience, sensational performers 2face, M.I, Olamide, Naeto C and Phyno literally ‘raised the roof’ as they performed hit after hit to the delight of demanding fans at the first stage of Star Music Trek 2014 in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Excited music lovers who stormed Local Government Stadium, Nsukka, -venue of the event- were not disappointed as it appeared that the artistes had made a secret pact earlier to ensure they spent every minute dancing excitedly to the music.
Host, Dotun of Cool FM, took time to warmly welcome guests from far and wide as he introduced artistes to the cheers of the audience.
A surprise appearance by Dammy Krane pulled everyone to their feet as he and his electrifying dancers took over the stage to perform ‘Appreciate’ and his other hits.
Naeto C’s stylish blend of music and panache as he stormed the stage did the trick, as his black suited dancers kept up with the rapper’s swift beat. Even more, Efa’s surprise appearance on stage with him gave an added edge to his performance with songs like 5&6,Tony Montana, 10/10 etc still obviously resonating strongly with his fans.
The new BFF’s in the Nigerian music industry- Phyno and Olamide- took their friendship right on to the stage as they delivered stellar performances to their screaming fans. Fans began demanding for Phyno from the beginning of the concert and were introduced to new music from his recently released album ‘No Guts No Glory ’. Dressed completely in black, Phyno also played other songs like Ghostmode, Parcel, Dope Money, Man of the Year and more to the delight of the audience.
M.I recreated the excitement and suspense of many of his other ‘Treks’, bringing onstage an elated fan, Chidinma, to mime his song, One Naira, with him and eventually rewarding her with an attractive wristwatch.
But it was superstar entertainer, 2face Idibia, whose quiet entrance unleashed an additional flurry of excitement with overjoyed fans streaming to the stage to get a closer look at the celebrated performer.
2face, who joined M.I in the last few minutes of the former’s performance, took over the stage with his live band and eclectic dancers. He offered just what his fans were eagerly waiting for; a nostalgic combination of his old and new hit songs.
His fans joined in at every song spurring the artiste on as he performed his exciting medley: Implication, Dance in the Rain, Only Me and many others.
The second concert off The Trek line up will hold at IBB Square, Makurdi, on April 5th 2013.
Star Music Trek 2014 will tour nine other cities: Makurdi, Uyo, Umuahia. Orlu, Ekwulobia, Onitsha, Benin, Ado Ekiti culminating in a spectacular grand finale which will hold at Jalisco Sports Center, Oshodi, Lagos State.

A Policeman (names witheld), allegedly killed his 19-month-old baby after battering his wife in Benin, weekend.
Vanguard gathered that the incident occurred at a flat in Sam Enobakhare Crescent, off St. Saviour Road, Benin.
His wife said last Tuesday they were at home when her husband’s countenance suddenly changed and when she tried to find out why, he pounced on her.
Contacted, Dr. Jolly Nosakhare Iguma, the Chief Medical Director of Jonos Medical Clinic where the baby was taken to, said a mother and her daughter brought in a dead baby a few days ago.
He said: “On close examination the baby was pale, yellowish, with tooth bite injuries on his face.
“Since the baby is not old enough to fight with any person, I wondered who bit the baby. However, if he was brought in early enough, the baby would have been transfused with blood. He may have died of jaundice.”
When newsmen visited the residence weekend, it was deserted as neighbors claimed not to have seen any of its occupants in the past few days.
Contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo said he is yet to be briefed, but promised to comment on the issue later.

Pandemonium broke out, weekend, in the densely-populated Ajegunle area of Lagos State, after some members of Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, engaged policemen in Tolu Police Division in a gun duel over the release of a suspect.
A suspected member of OPC was shot dead in the process, a passer-by hit by a stray bullet, one policeman shot and several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident which paralysed commer-cial activities in the area.
A police van was also burnt by the OPC members and part of the stationed torched. Their attempt to burn down the station, however, met with resistance from the policemen.
There were different accounts as to how trouble started.
How it started
A version said a teenage girl had a misunderstanding with her lover who was owing her N7,000. The 18-year old girl was said to have reported the matter to OPC members last Friday, who subsequently apprehended her boyfriend and allegedly tortured him in their hideout.
Another version had it that the man bought some goods worth N7,000 and refused to pay, threatening to beat up the teenager, who subsequently ran to the OPC for justice.
When news about the apprehension of the man reached policemen at Tolu Division, a team was reportedly drafted to the OPC’s hideout where the victim was rescued and brought to the station. The next day, OPC members reportedly stormed the station demanding for his immediate release.
Eyewitness account
An eyewitness, who gave his name as Famuyiwa Oladele, said: “Immediately the OPC people came, they started shaking the gate of the station, demanding that the man that was taken from their custody be returned.
“Before we knew what was happening, they started shooting and we all took to our heels.
“One Emeka, who was driving along the route, was hit by a stray bullet. They attempted to burn down the station when the police fired and killed one of them.
“Nobody could sleep in this area that day because the OPC members threatened to bring down the whole place. Many residents fled.”
Police story
When contacted, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident, saying report of the illegal arrest was received at the command’s control room from where policemen at Tolu Division were contacted.
She said that the policeman that fired the shot that killed the OPC member had been detained, and that the matter was being investigated to ascertain whether it was right to have fired the shot.
