The second edition of Taruwa Festival will kick off with the debut of an exciting stage play this week.

After staging Bobo Omotayo’s ‘London Life London Living ’ last year, the organisers have announced this year’s play, ‘The Engagement,’ written by the award-winning Author and playwright, Sefi Atta.

The stage play is scheduled for two shows (4: 30PM and 6:30PM) at the festival, which kicks off on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island, Lagos. It is directed by Kenneth Uphopho of ‘Harvest of Soyinka ’ plays ‘Trials of Brother Jero ’ and ‘Death and the King’s Horseman ’.

TARUWA (a Hausa word meaning ‘gathering’) is an event created by Gbagyichild Entertainment. It is a gathering of artistic and intellectual minds, and creates a platform for artistes to express themselves in a comfortable and intellectual setting. On a typical TARUWA evening, there are performances by poets, vocalists, instrumentalists, comedians and spoken word artistes.
