Frank Lampard is moving to another club

Frank Lampard turns 36 during the World Cup and is still

looking likely to find himself without a club come the

conclusion of the tournament in Brazil.

The England international confirmed he is to leave

Chelsea on Monday via an official statement, which read:

"This club has become part of my life. Whatever the

next challenge I will always be among you and have

Chelsea in my heart.

"The club will move forward and as a Chelsea man I have

no doubt that with the quality of the players that are

there, they will continue with the success that we have

all enjoyed over the past seasons. Thank you for the

memories and keep making history!"

Lampard was linked with a move to QPR following the

R's promotion to the Premier League after playing under

Harry Redknapp while at West Ham, but the London club

have dismissed talk of him joining.

Rumours continue to mount that Chelsea's all-time top

scorer is heading for a move to new Major League

Soccer outfit New York City FC, with Spain star David

Villa becoming their first signing on Monday.

The club, though, will not join the MLS officially until

next season, which starts in March 2015, so a short-term

move to keep up Lampard's fitness has also been

mooted - with Manchester City linked.

Lampard has impressed on the international stage for

England, scoring 29 goals in 103 appearances, but has

never registered at the World Cup finals in nine games.

With England being drawn against Italy, Uruguay and

Costa Rica in Group D, Roy Hodgson will look to Lampard

- who is the second-highest caps holder in the squad

behind captain Steven Gerrard - for his experience

amongst a youthful 23.

Impressing in Brazil could see clubs around Europe -

with money to spend - be tempted into recruiting

Lampard, or he could look to wind down his career in the

less taxing environment of the MLS.
