Eagles Clueless Last Nite Failed To Crush Iran – Who Is To Be Blame?

match NL1 500x300 Eagles Clueless Last Nite Failed To Crush Iran Who Is To Be Blame?

Win-less run in 16 years at the FIFA World Cup continued yesterday in Curitiba when they played a barren draw with Iran.

The Eagles were simply clueless. They lacked creativity, passed wrongly and showed no tacts in their attacks. Iran were poor, very poor that it was a nightmare to Nigerians fans that the Eagles could not fly past a team that lacked world standard class. T

he match was the first draw in the tournament and has been rated the worst so far.

This ranks as Nigeria;s worst showing against a team that many considered would be the whipping boys from Group F, comprising Argentina and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Coach Stephen Keshi and his players will look back at this match and cause their inaction on the pitch. They were not communicating with each other.

Despite having the greater ball possession, Eagles had fewer attempts at goal and early crash is possible going by their performance last night.

Parading Ambrose Efe, Kenneth Omeruo, Godfrey Oboabona, and Juwon Oshanuwa in defence,

Ramon Azeez, Ogenyi Onazi and Mikel Obi in a three-pronged midfield and three strikers in Ahmed

Musa, Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses, what many would consider a star-studed side,Eagles still failed to fly.

Iran came with a plan, to defend and contain the pressure from the Eagles. And how well they did their job to now put additional pressure on Eagles, who now have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the next round of the competition.

Much of the blame for Nigeria’s poor showing last night was tactical. There appeared to be no game plan. And if there was the players made nonsense of it. .

Much of Nigeria’s attacking thrust in the first half came down the left with Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses combining to cause problems for the defensively-minded Iran side.

Nigeria came closest to scoring in the seventh minute when an Ahmed Musa goal was disallowed after John Obi Mikel was adjudged to have fouled Iran goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi at a corner. Haghighi was quick to save a Musa freekick in the 31st minute.

Iran began to press more as the half developed and a Reza Ghoochannejhad header in the 34th required a sharp reaction save from Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama.

The truth is If we can’t beat Iran in this world cup, which other team can we beat? We drew 0-0 with Iran in the second match of Group F. It was the first goalless match in the tournament.
