Lionel Messi‘s hometown of Rosario, Argentina, has banned residents from naming their children ‘Messi’.
According to a report from Spanish publication Marca, his home city of Rosario, has restricted giving the name ‘Messi’ to newborns. The director of the Civil Register of the Santa Fe province, Gonzalo Carrillo, stated that no child shall be given the first name ‘Messi’ simply because, it is a last name and should be kept that way.
That is their reason but some feel there is more than meets the eye in the matter but calling a child Messi in a part of Argentina has now become forbidden.
