Residents of communities close to Sambisa forest have raised the alarm over the relocation of the abducted Chibok girls by Boko Haram to their new home in Balmo Forest, which borders Borno and Bauchi states.

The alarm was raised by the residents via phone messages after they saw a large number of Boko Haram militants leaving the dense Sambisa jungle early in the day on Wednesday, August 27 and driving towards the border town with Bauchi.

There are fears that the missing Chibok girls and others in Boko Haram captivity may have been moved to the insurgents’ new location, Vanguard reports .

It was learnt from a military source that security agencies have already started mapping out strategies to deal with the development and efforts are also being made to beef up security in the areas where the insurgents are reportedly relocating to.

Security sources are of the belief that the insurgents were relocating from Sambisa forest for fears of a major offensive by the military in a bid to rescue the abducted girls and demobilise their operational headquarters.
