Two young men, Felix Iber, 23, and Tersoo Teghtegh, 26, were on Monday, 26 May, 2014, ordered by a Makurdi Magistrates’ Court to be remanded in prison over alleged conspiracy and defilement of a minor.
According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP. James Onwone, the accused persons who reside at Welfare Quarters in Makurdi, allegedly committed the offence on May 10.
Onwone stated that one James Aku of Mechanic Village, Apir in Makurdi on May 13, lodged a complaint of her missing 13-year old daughter at the ‘B’ Division Police Station, Makurdi.
He said it was later gathered that the accused persons allegedly abducted the minor while he was sent an errand by her father.
The prosecutor further informed the court that the missing girl was found with one of the accused, Felix, after three days of search.
He added that after thorough testing of the girl and investigations by the police, it was discovered that the accused had been having canal knowledge of the girl.
The prosecutor opined that the offence committed by the accussed contravened Sections 97 and 275 of Penal Code.
However, after listening to the pleas of the accused, the Magistrate, Mrs Franca Yuwa, did not take their pleas as she adjourned the case to July 22.
