A Nigerian business woman, Elizabeth Osaikhuiwuomwan, who thought she was on to a good business deal and decided to invest in the movie industry in neighbouring Ghana, has had her fingers burnt as she was duped to the tune of $55,000 by the very poeple she wanted to enter into the business with.
According to the very bitter lady, she was in Gambia for some busines transaction when she watched a movie title ‘The Bride Price‘ shot by a Ghanaian movie outfit, Venus Films.
She fell in love with the film and decided to invest in it and called up the CEO of the outfit, one Abdul Salam Mumuni, and told him of her intention.
A movie producer from Gambia, called Larry acted as the go between and collected the said amount from her with a promise to deliver to the Ghanaian producer after confirming that he and Abdul Salam Mumuni were business partners. But that was the end of the money and business.
Elizabeth narrated her ordeal thus:
Just as I was struggling to get my money back, one Adams Omar, who happens to be the Director of Photography at Venus Films, came to me as a brother and convinced me that he could help me make my dream come true.
He asked me to provide an amount of $10,000 and when I did, he started playing tricks on me, so I reported him to the Dzorwulu Police Station, in Accra.
When we got to the police station, Adams called Salam to bail him but Salam refused to appear, so Adams called one businessman named Don Pee who came to rescue him.
But after he was bailed, he ran away from Ghana and as I am talking to you, I have not recovered my money.
Sorry madam but Nollywood sure need such investment, don’t you think?
