Manchester United has named Dutchman Louis van Gaal as the replacement for sacked coach David Moyes . The club made the announcement today, May 19, 2014 through a statement and also on its Facebook Page .
Van Gaal, 62, will start work at Old Trafford following the end of Holland’s World Cup campaign. Veteran Man-United footballer Ryan Giggs (who is the club’s recent interim coach) will be his assistant manager.
Van Gaal won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995 before going on to take charge of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
With their worst performance in 25 years in the English Premiership, Manchester United ended their poor run in seventh position without any chance of visiting Europe next season.
